The Associate Controller will be responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial reporting, driving accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial statements inaccordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), regulatory requirements, and private company standards. You will work closely with senior executives and report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This role is critical to supporting the company’s financial operations, reporting, and internal control environment, ensuring transparency, and providing insightful financial examination to facilitate business strategy while driving efficient growth.

What You’ll Be Doing
Financial Reporting & Compliance
• Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely internal and external financial reporting, including monthly / quarterly reporting packages for various stakeholders and annual consolidated and statutory financial statements, as required
• Technical expertise relating to US GAAP, covering accounting for balance sheet and P&L areas. Areas of importance (not all inclusive) include revenue recognition (SaaS), debt, consolidation, foreign currency, stock compensation, etc. Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards
• Management and coordination around external audit and ad hoc processes (as necessary), liaising with auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient audit
• Prepare, review, and ensure proper documentation of all accounting policies and transactions, ensuring adherence to corporate policies and regulatory standards. Includes the preparation of policy memos and the like to comply with necessary documentation requirements
Accounting Operations
• Ownership of the general ledger, accounts payable & receivable, expense reimbursement, payroll, equity administration, and tax & treasury responsibilities
• Establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure the efficient and accurate operation of the accounting department
• Monitor, automate, and manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes to ensure deadlines are met
• Manage cross-functional and internal Finance oriented projects to meet objectives and improve efficiencies and effectiveness of the organization
Internal Controls Compliance
• Develop, maintain, and improve the company's internal control structure to promote transparency, consistency, and accuracy
• Develop and implement policies for internal financial controls and audit processes
Financial Analysis
• Work closely with the CFO to prepare accurate financial forecasts, budgets, and projections
• Provide insight on financial data to support strategy, including key performance indicators (KPIs) and variances from budget
• Assist in the preparation of board and board committee reports, internal and external stakeholder reporting and other ad hoc communications
Mindset & Leadership
• Maintain a leadership & high-performing “learn-it-all" mindset. Provide consistent and timely communications, with a bias to proactivity and sharing any and all bad news early (“no surprises”)
• Provide guidance across the company and with partners to ensure that accounting activities are completed in a timely and efficient manner
Tax Compliance & Reporting:
• Oversee and coordinate the preparation of corporate tax filings, ensuring compliance with international, federal, state, and local tax regulations
• Run activities with external service providers as needed / as business evolves supporting indirect taxation, including sales & use, and business taxes
Treasury & Cash Management:
• Oversee treasury activities and cash management strategy in conjunction with the CFO, including maintaining timeline, accurate, and forward-looking near-term and long-term cash flow forecasting
• Ensure proper accounting treatment of cash receipts, disbursements, and financial instruments
What You’ll Need
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (CPA or equivalent preferred)
• At least 4 years of accounting experience
• Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and AICPA reporting requirements
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with senior executives, auditors, and external stakeholders
• Strongly demonstrated successful leadership and project management capabilities; able to collaborate and work well cross-functionally; experience in a management role preferred but not required for this position
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g. NetSuite, QuickBooks), expense management software (e.g. Ramp, Concur), and financial modeling tools (e.g. Excel, Causal). Proficiency in financial modeling and ERP implementation experience is a plus
• Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently in a fast-paced environment; “do what you say you’re going to do, every time” posture
• Software experience is strongly preferred
